Monthly Review| July 2016
Wondering what SE Vietnam did this July? Check out the following to see how hectic and epic our last month was…
2016/07/06: Welcome Dr. James Welsh and 18 students from School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Newcastle (Australia) for their 2-week Study Tour on Advanced Control Systems Design in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
What do you think these talented engineers-to-be would do while in Vietnam?
“Sorry guys, it is not your vacation yet so always be ready for lectures and quizzes” – said Dr. James 😉
And industry visits, of course….
But more than just a study tour, they are here to make friends with world-known friendly Vietnamese people and explore the country’s beautiful landscapes, unique culture and mysterious history as well

2016/07/07: Welcome David Duplantier (California, U.S.A) for his 5-month IT Internship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
From left to right: David’s supervisor, David, SE Vietnam coordinator. The three are at a David’s host company where he will be working for the next 5 months.
Being one of SE Vietnam’s alumni through a study program conducted with his institution – University of California, San Diego in Ho Chi Minh City last year, David has been familiarized with the amazing local scene and people – which played a key factor in his decision of returning to Vietnam. Coming back this time to discover and learn more about the diverse IT environment in Ho Chi Minh City, David looks forwards to applying his skills and experiences to work at a professional company setting at which he will be gaining invaluable lessons integral for his future career.
David appears really local here, having a traditional Vietnamese meal with “tra da” (iced tea), seasoned vegetables and of course, a huge bowl of rice, with SE Vietnam’s Program Coordinator Ms.Ha
2016/07/10: Welcome Elise Durkin (Colorado, U.S.A) for her 4-week Nursing Internship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Elise with her co-workers during a workday at the host hospital in Ho Chi Minh City
Originally a Psychology graduate but has recently started to pursue her second degree in Nursing, Elise (Colorado, U.S.A) has gained our admiration for her determination to follow her dream career. This amazing girl came all the way from the U.S to Vietnam as a way of stepping out of her comfort zone, with the hope to enrich her personal and professional experience during her internship in Vietnam – a country where everything is pretty much a different scene compare to where she comes from – the U.S. Fortunately, Elise is not alone on her road to acquire more learning in Vietnam as she always has her local buddy and SE Vietnam as her companions Wish you all the best Elise!
Elsie on her way home. 99% of SE Vietnam’s interns having bus as their main transportation. It is cheap, safe and convenient, who could have said no?
