Coronavirus cases in Vietnam: 12 infected, 3 recovered and came home, 0 deaths
Two weeks after Vietnam confirmed its first novel coronavirus (nCoV) infection, the nation has taken drastic measures to limit its spread. So far, Vietnam has announced twelve infections of the new pneumonia virus and three of them have been declared healthy and discharged from hospital and no casualties.
The first infections on January 23 including two Chinese Li Ding, 66, and his son Li Zichao, 28 informed that the son, after having been tested negative with the Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), has been discharged and been able to sleep, eat, breathe by himself and shown no signs of fever. However, the father, who has been tested negative once, remains under observation as he still needs a ventilator. It is said that his organs are functioning well and he can sleep and eat without difficulty. He is now conscious and able to eat, sleep and breathe by himself normally, showing no signs of fever.

The other infection case confirmed so far is a 73-year-old Vietnamese-American who had boarded Flight 660 of China Southern Airlines to Vietnam from the U.S. on January 14. He transited at the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport on January 15 for two hours and arrived in HCMC on January 16. Hotel staff took him to the HCMC Hospital of Tropical Diseases on January 31, four days after he had developed a cough. He is still in quarantine at the hospital.
In the North of Vietnam, as reported, on February 1, three cases positive for nCoV had recently returned to Vietnam on the same flight (Southern China Airlines flight – CZ8315) after receiving a vocational training program in the city of Wuhan. One of them from the north-central province of Thanh Hoa has recovered significantly and shown negative to the nCoV. The other two cases, currently residing in Hanoi, come from Vinh Phuc and are in a group of eight employees of the Japan-based Nihon Plast Company Limited sent for training in Wuhan. So far, two of them have been confirmed infected with the nCoV at varying dates. Besides, a friend of the workers visited their family during the Lunar New Year, developed high fever on January 31 and has been confirmed positive for the virus as well. Those employees and their friends/relatives have been treated at the Healthcare & Clinic Center Vinh Phuc and under supervision. Yesterday (February 6), the newly infected patients are the mother and sister of one of the worker quarantined in the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, are now staying at the Hanoi hospital and in stable health condition.
The scope of the epidemic is currently limited to 4 provinces – the South-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, HCMC; the central province of Thanh Hoa and the northern province of Vinh Phuc, while there are no cases detected in Hanoi. Amid the bombarding of official and fake news updating 2019-nCoV, a group of 5 Vietnamese engineers working in Vietnam and the U.S have together created a webstire Corona.kompa.ai that helps people monitor the number of infected cases on a global scale. The critical characteristics of this website is that inventors apply Machine Learning model so that besides updates of detected cases, users can read news from reliable sources about the outbreak.
