Hue Food Tour Detailed Itinerary

At 5:30 pm, a local food expert will meet you at Lac Thien Restaurant- 06 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Thuong Tu Gate, and we will start the Hue Walking Street Food Tour. Our Hue local guide will tell you some overall information about Hue, the Nguyen Dynasty, as well as Hue Cuisine.

We will explore local restaurants to enjoy their best dishes. Our tour guide will tell you the ingredients and how to cook them. You can also learn how to make them and interact with the owners.

At the first restaurant, we will enjoy the 3 kinds of Hue cakes, including

  • Bánh Bèo: Steamed rice cakes with shrimp, crispy pork skin, and scallion oil in tiny saucers.
  • Bánh Nậm: Flat, steamed rice flour wrapped in a banana leaf with shrimp filling.
  • Bánh Lọc: Chewy tapioca dumplings filled with shrimp and pork belly, wrapped in banana leaves.

All the cakes are served with Hue-style dipping fish sauce- a true texture journey.

Second, we will learn and sample the Hue mixed noodles with claims. A humble yet flavor-packed bowl featuring sautéed baby mussels, peanuts, banana flower, rice noodles, crispy crackers, and chili oil. A local delicacy from Con Hen Islet.

In the 3rd restaurant, we will enjoy the Hue-style noodles with BBQ pork (Bun Thit Nuong). Thin vermicelli noodles topped with flavorful grilled pork, crunchy peanuts, herbs, and a sweet-savory fish sauce dressing. A favorite among locals, this dish is both light and deeply satisfying.

Bun Bo Hue (Hue Noodle Soup with Beef) is the next famous dish that we will not ignore. Hue’s signature spicy beef noodle soup with lemongrass, beef shank, pork knuckles, and blood pudding in a rich broth.

On the Hue Food Tour, we will have a great chance to enjoy the best panoramic views of Hue city and, Perfume River from Truong Tien Bridge.

Admire the beer opening performance from the locals, and enjoy the best Banh Khoai (Hue Pancakes). Crispy pancakes filled with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, and herbs, dipped in peanut sauce. Crunchy, savory, and addictive.

We’ll wrap up the Hue Street Food Tour around 9:00 PM with a taste of local beer and a special souvenir to take home.

End your food adventure with a happy belly and a deeper understanding of Hue’s rich culinary heritage. You’ll leave with local food tips, stories of imperial flavors, and maybe even a few new friends. Perfect for those who want to eat like a local, not just a tourist.
